Choices is a new Barnardo’s North Ayrshire Families service. Barnardo’s will be the provider of this service and will work in partnership with key agencies such as the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Police Scotland and Connected Community who are involved in shaping the service.

The Choices service has a part time Team Manager, part time Volunteer Coordinator and 2 full time Project Workers. The service will support children and young people aged 5-18 years that are affected by alcohol or drug misuse whether this is a member of their family or themselves. Choices will begin work in the Irvine and Stevenston areas and it is hoped that within 3 years this will progress to working in all areas of North Ayrshire. The service will provide support to secondary schools in the form of drop in sessions and inputs to classes. It will work with children and young people on a 1:1 basis, provide group work, family work and parenting sessions. Our Volunteer Coordinator will train young people as Peer Mentors to support other young people and volunteers will be recruited to become befrienders.
