Ayrshire College Sport and Fitness students were recently involved in the ‘Colour of our Scarves’ event at Rugby Park, where over 100 school pupils were also taking part. ‘Colour of our Scarves’ is a project run by Supporters Direct Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government.

The aim of this project is to tackle sectarianism in Scotland – specifically around sports like football. Ayrshire College were asked by the Project Manager (Mark Reid) to assist in his event, which had six activities along with a workshop on sectarianism.

Mark had previously spoken to College students about his project, giving them advice on how to deal with potential sectarian situations. The students later commented that the workshop was beneficial to them as it gave them confidence in tackling sectarianism in the future.
