A draft Shoreline Management Plan for the Ayrshire coastline has been prepared by North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire Councils.

The Plan presents a large-scale assessment of the risks to the people of Ayrshire and its developed, historic and natural environment, from coastal flooding and erosion, and identifies suitable policies for the management of these risks. The Plan covers the entire Ayrshire mainland coastline from Skelmorlie in the north, to the northern shore of Loch Ryan in the south, and the coasts of the islands of Arran and Great Cumbrae.

North Ayrshire Council wish to give the people of Ayrshire the opportunity to comment on and influence the Ayrshire Shoreline Management Plan and associated environmental reports before they are finalised. The draft Ayrshire Shoreline Management Plan and associated environmental reports (Strategic Environmental Assessment – Environmental Report and Habitats Regulation Appraisal Record) are therefore available to view in hardcopy at the North Ayrshire Council offices at Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE (during office hours) and from the list of document links provided below:

Public Consultation Days have been planned at various locations throughout North Ayrshire where you can review the draft Ayrshire Shoreline Management Plan and associated environmental reports, and discuss any details with the project team.

The public consultation dates are as follows:
