The Scottish Government has recently launched a consultation to review the suite of Good Practice Principles for Renewable Energy Developments, which includes Community Benefits from onshore renewable energy developments, community benefits from offshore renewable energy developments and shared ownership of onshore renewable energy developments. These practical guides have been widely adopted across the renewables industry and whilst much of the documents remain relevant and valid the review provides a good opportunity to enhance and amend some aspects to reflect lessons learned, and align with current and future investment conditions.

There will be four consultation workshops:
Glasgow, 10am – 12pm, 9th January 2019 – Book here
Inverness, 1pm – 3pm, 16th January 2019 – Book here
Perth, 1pm – 3pm, 18th January 2019 – Book here
Ayr, 1pm – 3pm, 23rd January 2019 – Book here

We would like to encourage you to respond to the consultation and/ or attend one of the workshops to ensure that the experience of communities is gathered as part of the consultation process.

You can find all the information you need about the consultation process and the consultation workshops on the Local Energy Scotland website.

While we are here, we would like to remind you of the free and impartial support available through the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES), delivered by Local Energy Scotland. The funding and support available through CARES can help you to plan for, respond to and govern community benefit funds and shared ownership opportunities. We’ll help you to engage with a renewable energy business and will guide you through the process from beginning to end. You can find out more about how we can help on the website. If you are currently in receipt of community benefit funds you may want to check that the entry about your project on the Scottish Government’s Register of Community Benefits is up to date.
